Goju-no-To or Go-jyu-no-Toh (called Five Story Pagoda) is a pagoda located in the Buddhist temple complex Horyu-ji which in turn is located in the city of Ikaruga in the Nara Prefecture of Honshu. The aforementioned complex is considered one of the most important places of worship in Japan and has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and many of its buildings are on the list of the National Treasures of Japan. It is worth adding that several buildings of the Horyu-ji complex are dated to the 7th century AD! Without a doubt, one of the most recognizable monuments in the Horyu-ji complex is the Goju-no-To Pagoda, which measures 32.45 meters and is one of the tallest wooden structures in Japan. What's more, it is quite commonly assumed that it is one of the oldest wooden structures in the world - based on a dendrochronological analysis, it can be assumed that the trees used to erect it were felled at the end of the 6th century! Due to the importance of this monument, tourists cannot visit Goju-no-To, but only admire it from the outside.
